What’s the interest? The basic rights outlined in the Constitution and other founding documents are being eroded by governmental actions. While these actions reduce personal rights, such as privacy and trial by jury (habeas corpus), they add to governmental control and power over citizens. Many issues have been raised such as presidential signing statements, executive orders, spying on U.S. citizens, passage of anti-consitutional laws, and the cooperation of media and government at high levels. Many of these challenges to liberty come from “In the interest of national security...”. Others appear to relate to paranoia and ruling elite ideology.

Quote: ”Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.”

Benjamin Franklin - U.S. author, inventor, politician, statesman, and founding father (1706-1790)
